This is for the artist who would like their work highlighted by an artist who is also a writer.
The primary purpose of a commentary is to inform the artist, and the reader, by acting as a mirror, providing feedback about the impact of the artist’s work. The reflection is meant to highlight the ways in which art connects us to humanity and changes the world around us when we express creatively. It involves the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of a work of art; and it serves as a fundamental part of art studies, allowing us to delve deeper into the creative process and meaning behind artistic expressions.
I offer commentaries of a single piece of artwork, a collection or series of artwork, as well as temporary or permanent exhibitions or installations at local galleries and museums.
How the Process Works
I conduct a virtual or in-person interview with the artist.
I record the conversation and utilize the transcript for source material.
I send the first draft to the artist to verify details and address any concerns.
The commentary is then published to my portfolio. Some commentaries will also be published to The Commentary by Wick Monet.
